A Taste of Creativity: The Inspiration Behind Our Wedding Cake
I don’t know about you, but I love cake. Just talking about it makes my mouth water! Cake brings me so much happiness, so when it came to our wedding, I knew our cake had to be something truly special—a reflection of Walter and me.
I loved our wedding cake! We wanted the bride and groom cakes to incorporate our personalities and interests subtly and elegantly. I didn’t want anything too loud or over-the-top—it needed to be timeless and beautiful while still showing who we are as a couple.
For the design, I envisioned a white cake accented with gold, dusty blue, greenery, and three meaningful details to make it personal. As for the flavors, I couldn’t decide on just one! Instead, we went with three delicious flavors that we both loved, making the cake as enjoyable to eat as it was to look at.

Hiding in some floral bunches will be small fondant pieces unique to the bride and groom, including Jim Carrey’s Grinch Character, suitcase, and the weekend. Also tucked into the floral will be tiny, delicate, sparkly snowflakes. (The bride has a specific design for the snowflake) Per the sketch, each cake tier will contain 24k edible gold leafing detail. The gold detail will begin or end within the floral placements and move fluidly from one tier to the next.

Grooms Cake
Each of the three details on our wedding cake was profoundly personal and symbolized what makes Walter and me whole. We wanted every part of our wedding, including the cake, to reflect our story, personalities, and the things we love most.
The Weeknd
We had to include The Weeknd on our cake because he’s our favorite artist and has been a significant part of our relationship. Our first concert was for his Kiss Land album at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, and we’ve been fans ever since. The Weeknd’s influence didn’t stop there—he was woven into so many moments of our wedding.
Walter proposed to me with one of his songs, Till Dawn, setting the perfect tone for our story. Even my bachelorette party had themes inspired by his music: one night was Earned It, complete with a lingerie theme (inspired by the song's sultry music video), and another night was Blinding Lights. I even danced with my mom to Blinding Lights at the wedding and chose Often as my final dance of the evening. Including The Weeknd on our cake was the ultimate nod to how much his music has meant to us.
The Snowflake
The snowflake represented our love for winter and the season when our story began. Walter and I started talking in December, and from there, we fell in love with the magic of winter. Living in Houston, we rarely experienced a real winter, which made our travels during the season even more special. Including the snowflake on our cake was a way to honor those cozy memories and the season that brought us together.
The Grinch
The Grinch is a favorite movie of both of us. We watch it randomly throughout the year—not just during Christmas. It always makes us laugh and feel nostalgic and holds such a special place in our hearts. Adding The Grinch to our wedding cake was a fun and personal touch that reflected our playful side and love for the things that bring us joy.
Our wedding cake wasn’t just a dessert; it reflected our story, favorite memories, and everything that made us who we were as a couple. It was elegant yet full of personality, making it one of my favorite details from our special day.
